The last quarter of 2016 - an overview

1. Cactus by Draad en Praat 2. Reindeer Mittens 3. Yarn testing 4. Handpoppen Haken 5. Shawl by The Lazy Hobby Hopper 6. Pillow Cover 6. Crochet Dreams 7. Knitting & Stitching Show 8. Owl

The last quarter of Link Your Stuff was very busy, but this Link Your Stuff was the busies. The cactusses of Draad en Praat were so very cute, I wasn't surprised that these were the most viewed link of this quarter. I looked at all links of this quarter again, and one of my favourites is definitely this lovely scarf by The Lazy Hobby Hopper.

But what else happened this quarter? I went to the Knitting & Stitching show in Londen. You can read all about it here in this blog post

My Dutch webshop went online again (click here), and I was very excited to add the lovely coloring book Crochet Dreams to my shop.

I got to test yarn for Wolplein, and I was very surprised that I chose the same favourite as two years earlier. You can read in this blog post what yarn that is.

I started working on a new cushion cover, I made a giant owl and a lot of tiny owls for charity. I designed Reindeer mittens, I made a cactus for the website of the magazine Aan de Haak and I found many more cute free cactus patterns. I found out that the flowers that I made earlier this year were very cute Christmas stars and I found a cute and free fish pattern.

Was there any book news? Yes there was! I went to the book presentation of the book Handpoppen Haken from Stefanie van CuteDutch. I loved the book so much that I finished my first hand doll the next day.

Ofcourse many other stuff happened in 2016. More books were published, new blogs arrived and some bloggers that were blogging for a long time decided to take a short (or sometimes a long) break. Projects started full of enthousiasm, and sometimes they worked out and sometimes they didn't. There were many ideas in my head, but I was only able to do something with a few of them. Sometimes I didn't have the time or I just wasn't in the mood. And sometimes it turned out to be a way too big project or it didn't become what I had hoped. But taking everything into account it was a great, fun and creative year in which I received many sweet, fun and happy messages from so many of you. I got inspired at Link Your Stuff and I visited online and offline shops that I loved. So I hope that you all had a lovely year and I hope that we will all have a wonderful and creative and happy healthy 2017! But before that, I hope to see you again tomorrow at the last Link Your Stuff of 2016.

The third quarter of 2016 - an overview

1. Haakspiratie 2. Monkey by Stephanie 3. Happy Waves Blanket 4. Flower Bookmark 5. Bunny by So Sanne
6. Sweater pattern 7. Postcards 8. Bobble Stitch Blanket 9. Stonewashed XL

In the third quarter of 2016 I posted a lot of patterns online. For instance this blanket, this blanket, this blanket and this bag. I also made another sweater with the new yarn ByClaire Nr 2. The pattern is available for free in this blog post.

The quarter started super good with a yarn party by Draad en Praat at the shop EchtStudio. Like always Lisanne organised a great party and I went home full of inspiration and with a bag of lovely yarns.

I also got to test a new yarn (Milla Mia) and I liked it a lot. I made this cute bunny with it, and I used this pattern that I had used before. If you click here you can read all my blog posts about bunnies.

The previous quarter I had a new logo designed for my blog, and so I got these postcards to go with them. The postcards were handed out in various shops.

I got to work with Stonewashed XL by Scheepjes. A lovely yarn, and I had planned to make a lovely blanket of it. But eventually I started over and I made a cowl out of it. I will share the picture of this cowl next year.

I found one of the loveliest free patterns of this year on the blog of Stephanie. This cute little monkey is high up my to do-list.

At the end of August Janneke from the blog JipByJan launched her new book 'Haakspiratie'. I wasn't able to attend her party, but it was a great party as you can read here. The book is gorgeous and a musthave. You can get it here.

In september I started as a guest blogger for the magazine Aan de Haak. Such a fun thing to do, and in my first blog post I shared this flower bookmark pattern. Many other blog posts followed, and I love reading all posts by the other bloggers of Aan de Haak: Stefanie of CuteDutch and Frederika and Mabel of CrochetAddict

Link Your Stuff continued during the summer. The busiest Link Your Stuff was this one, and the blog post that was most favourite was the blog post of Hilde from the blog Draad en Papier. One of my personal favourites is the cute bunny from So Sanne, made by a pattern of Stip & Haak.

So this was an overview of the third quarter of 2016. Tomorrow I'll post the overview of this quarter of 2016. I hope to see you tomorrow!

The second quarter of 2016 - an overview

Kom dan morgen weer even langs!

In the second quarter of 2016 there was a lot going on, and it had mainly to do with books. I finished a couple of blankets, like this ripple blanket and this huge granny square blanket. The tutorial of the granny square blanket is available for download here. I also crocheted two pillows that were my cats favourite. You can find the link to the patterns here in this blog post.

Just like a few years ago I held another flower week. In that week I posted a free flower pattern every day. You can find them all here on my blog.

May started very well, because Lisanne Multem of the blog Draad en Praat published her first book. The book is called 'Haak je happy' and it was sold out in no time at all, and that's because the book is so very fun!

Also, my blog got a make-over. I had a new logo designed and the banner of my blog got a new look. It took a while before it all worked, but when it did I was very pleased with the result.

During this quarter I kept writing book reviews. I blogged about several books, like: Amigurumi Alfabet, Baby Brights, Amigurumi Babydieren Haken and Combigurumi

At the same time I found out that there wasn't going to be a reprint of my book Slingers Haken. That was a huge disappointment, because it took lots of time and energy to make this book. Because I got emails of people asking me where they could buy the book, I searched the internet for shops that still sell the book. There are just a few left and you can find them here in this blog post. Part of the patterns is available in my Etsy-shop and in my Dutch webshop. I'm currently looking for a way to offer all the patterns from this book online, but that's a lot of work and I haven't been able yet to arrange that.

Luckily there was also happy book-news for me! Some of my patterns were published in the book Crochet to Calm. I'm in touch with some of the other designers in this book and that's a very special result of this book.

And ofcourse there was Link Your Stuff every weekend. The busiest Link Your Stuff was this one, and the most visited link was this gorgeous scarf by Crochet Rainbow Tales

I also looked at all links that were added in this quarter and I picked another favourite. It's the gorgeous blanket of My Rose Valley. You can find a tutorial on her blog (click here).

So that's the second quarter! Do you want to know what happened in the third quarter? Visit my blog tomorrow and find out.

The first quarter of 2016 - an overview

1. Blanket by ShhShh 2. Ducklings by Mrs Emonessy 3. Sweater pattern 4. Baby Brights 5. Vest pattern 6. Scarf by Haak & Maak 7. Toys for Romania 8. Granny Stripe Blanket 9. Cat

Jullie deden weer massaal mee met Link Your Stuff. Sommigen van jullie doen zelfs bijna elk weekend mee. Zo leuk!

What was happening in the crochet world in the first quarter of 2016. Do you remember? I went through my archives and I found a lot of fun facts from the beginning of this year.

Many of you added links to my link party called Link Your Stuff. Some of you were there almost every weekend. Thanks a lot! The project that was viewed the most in the first quarter of 2016 was the link to this blanket. At the end of February this was the busiest Link Your Stuff of this quarter, and the scarf of Daphne from the blog Haak & Maak was viewed the most.

In January I was totally hooked on crocheting sweaters and cardigans, so I placed several patterns which you can find here and here.
I also announced how many stuffed animals and other wonderful stuff I collected for Romania. You can read here how many toys I gathered back then. I was really honoured that one of the cats that I crocheted for Romania was mentioned here on the blog of LoveCrochet.
In early December of this year I already knew that I collected more toys then I did last year, because shortly after my blog post about this year's project for Romania there was a huge pile of stuffed animals on my desk. How wonderful that so many of you helped again. This year I collected the following:

18 blankets
187 hugs
8 pairs of booties and socks
6 scarves
13 sweaters
3 pairs of mittens
28 caps
8 other things such as crochet purses, balls and rattles

A part of the total collection is on one of the pictures above. Thanks so much to all crocheters and knitters that helped! Many of you are probably not aware of the fact that all these things were made by a very small group of enthusiastic crocheters and knitters. A couple of them is sending in toys each year, so sweet!

In January we also had to deal with the new rules regarding the payment of VAT when selling patterns. At the end of 2015 it became clear that it would be a complex situation, but in January everything got real. It really affected me as an Etsy-seller. Etsy stated that sellers themselves were responsible for the payment of VAT in all EU countries where you sold patterns, but many people did not know how to meet the new requirements and neither did I. I closed my Etsy-shop temporarily.
At that time LoveCrochet just started cooperating with Ravelry, so from the beginning of this year all designers could sell patterns on both these websites while they took care of the VAT-issue. This was a huge relief for many designers. A few months later Etsy made the same arrangements, but this was too late for many. Shops were already (partly) closed and some designers decided not to re-open their Etsy-shop.

In February I finally finished the granny stripe blanket that I started working on long ago. I also started writing book reviews, which was fun to do. I wanted to make a project out of every, but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to make projects from all books. You can still read all book reviews here. I also gave away a copy of the book Baby Brights, a book that I contributed to.

Although four persons are in the spotlight at every Link Your Stuff I cannot give attention all the nice contributions. So I scrolled back through all participants of the first quarter and I chose a favorite one more time. It is this cute little duck, crocheted by Saskia from the blog Kleines FadenAllerlei. In her blog post, you can also find a link to the German pattern.

In March I was exactly one year on Instagram. Although I love to share beautiful photos through Instagram, I noticed it's hard to keep up with all social media. Although there are so many opportunities to share my work online, blogging has not faded into the background, and I'm excited to continue blogging in 2017.
In March I was interviewed on the blog of LoveCrochet. Super fun, and a great honor because I am a big fan of LoveCrochet. A lot of my free patterns are available for download there (click here). I also sell my patterns on LoveCrochet, and it is clear that the combination of offering patterns and all materials at the same time works very well.

Do you want to know what happened next in 2016? Tomorrow on my blog an overview of the second quarter of 2016. I hope to see you then!

It's the second day of Christmas, and I hope you are all enjoying some lovely days. My vacation has started, so this week I'll be looking back and so I will post a few of my favourite crochet events of 2016. I will also look mention some of the contributors of Link Your Stuff 2016, so perhaps you will be part of it.
I made the owls above for Romania. Tomorrow I'll let you know how many toys and other cute things I collected this year. The pattern of these owls is in this blog post. I wish you all a lovely Christmas!

Stars

When I posted flower patterns on my blog earlier this year, there was also a pattern of a star shaped flower among them. One of my followers said 'they look like Christmas stars'. And I thought she was right. So earlier this week I took some yarn, a crochet hook and the pattern and I started making them in one solid color. It's so fun to see that they are also very cute as Christmas decoration. The pattern is available for free here in this blog post. If you speak Dutch you can also find it here on the blog of the Dutch magazine Aan de Haak. I am one of a few bloggers of this magazine, and there are some lovely patterns on that blog too. Only in Dutch unfortunately but it's worth a visit if you want to get inspired.

Crochet Owls

And ofcourse I also made a lot of toys for the project in Romania. Actually I made and saved them during the year, but I crocheted these owls in the past few weeks. The first toys for Romania arrived

The first toys for Romania arrived. I received these a week ago, and I will show you all other things that I'll receive the next month. If you want to send in your toy make sure that it's in my mailbox before 22/12, then it will go to Romania. I mainly collect toys, but I am also very happy with blankets, hats or mittens. As long as it is handmade. Do you want to send stuff in? Please send me a message through the contact form on the right, and I'll let you know where to send it.
